On the
morning of Saturday, October 11th, members of the Rachel T.
and Curtis F. Bayer ’35 family assembled in Linderman
Library to mark the naming of the Curator of Special
Collections Office in honor and memory of Rachel T. Bayer.
In the
mid-1980s the Bayer Family generously contributed to a
renovation of the Bayer Galleria and Bayer Family Room in
the library’s third floor west tower. This new gift
continues the Bayer legacy into the same spaces that have
now found renewed functionality for Lehigh faculty and
students through Shine Forever: The Campaign for Lehigh.
Eleven
members of the Bayer family in three generations have
graduated from Lehigh. The fundraising for the Linderman
Renovation is coming down the home stretch. It now exceeds
the $9 million mark and is closing in on the $10 million
goal.
Others
who want to be a part of this phenomenal project are invited
to contact Susan Vengrove at 610-758-6624. The remaining
naming opportunities can be viewed
here.
