Editor’s Update: Spring is a time for April Showers
Spring is a time for April showers, baseball,
graduations, and Lehigh Reunion weekend. We touch on all of
these topics in this issue of the LTS Connection. April
showers (yea, even thunder and lightning) appropriately
accompanied HPC Day with its focus on the use of massively
parallel computers for climate modeling.
The article on the Electronic
Dissertation and Theses Program (EDP) describes how Lehigh
graduate students are now submitting these documents
electronically. Electronic versions of dissertations have
been linked to the ASA online catalog record since 1997 but
they were scanned from print rather than “born digital.”
This year was the first for the transition to electronic
document submission for all graduate students.
At Reunion this year Library and
Technology Services will be providing a demonstration of the
new Brown and White Digital Archive also highlighted
in this issue. Stop in on Saturday, May 16th about 11 am in
Linderman Library to see it. The Archive covers all issues
up to the year 2000. Did you notice that we skipped baseball
in the newsletter lineup?
That will come soon too, in time for
the World Series if not before. A recent gift from Lehigh
Alumnus Eric Simonsen ’67, ‘71G is comprised of Society for
American Baseball Research (SABR) publications: 35
monographs, two journals, and newsletters, etc. The
collection will be cataloged over the summer and available
on the shelves of Linderman Library! Watch for the fall 2009
newsletters with more details.
