Update:
High Marks for Classroom Alert
In the last issue of LTS Connection we
featured an article about the new campus alert system for
classrooms titled “Classroom Alert System Operational.” With
advance notice to the campus, this system received its first
campus-wide test November 12th and 13th.
The test went extremely well and about
fifty people responded to the invitation to share their
feedback, mostly professors who were teaching classes at
this time. One professor who was teaching classes both days
noted that the students were receptive to the idea and that
it presented an opportunity for him to remind the class to
make sure their cell phones are registered with the
university’s emergency notification system, LU-ALERT.
Another professor described himself as
“very impressed” with how very easy it was to hear the alert
tone and the message. We all hope that we never have
occasion to need this safety mechanism but it’s great to be
prepared with an excellent workable system. For more
