Marley and Me Author Grogan to Speak February 19th

The Friends of the Lehigh University Libraries are pleased to announce that local author John Grogan will visit the campus on Thursday, February 19th, at 4:30 pm. He will speak on “Memoir, Truth, and Writing” in Packard Laboratory Auditorium, room 101. This event is free and open to the public and will be followed by a book signing.

Grogan’s first book, Marley and Me, an international bestseller and a major motion picture, has now been followed by his new book, The Longest Trip Home, another personal memoir.

In the acknowledgements for the latter book, he notes his thanks “to Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, in whose elegant Linderman Library I wrote much of this book while my studio was under construction.”

The Longest Trip Home chronicles Grogan’s search for identity after his upbringing in a devoutly Catholic household in suburban Detroit. This book exhibits the same well honed sense of humor and considerable storytelling ability as did Marley and Me.

Prior to becoming a full time writer, John Grogan was metropolitan columnist for the Philadelphia Inquirer, editor of Rodale Press’s Organic Gardening, and a reporter at several other newspapers.
