Microsoft Compatibility
Tool Essential
Library and Technology Services announced its plans to
migrate to Microsoft Office 2007 last May and over the
summer this version was installed at all public site PCs.
Even if users decide not to make the leap to Office 2007
just yet, they must at least install the Microsoft Office
Compatibility Pack. Without this tool, it is not possible to
open and read files that were created in the higher version.
Users can download the tool
here.
LTS is also offering Office 2007 Suite seminars to smooth
the transition to the new version. View the seminar schedule
and register here.
Faculty and staff can upgrade at home by purchasing a copy
of Office 2007 from the Bookstore for $10 for "work at home"
use. The Macintosh version of Office 2007 has not yet been
released. Departmental transitions will be managed by the
computing consultants and as always, the LTS Help Desk at
8(HELP) is available for questions.
